Duddon Valley Recce

Crossing the stepping stones at Seathwaite.
In some very warm temperatures we headed out to reccee the route of the Duddon Valley Fell Race. We parked at the Three Shires Stone on Wrynose Pass, half way around the 18 mile route. The actual race starts at Seathwaite and visits the summits of Harter Fell, Hard Knott fell, Little Stand Summit, Three Shires Stone, Swirl How, Dow Crag summit, White Pike and Caw. In poor visibility the route gives some very challenging navigation but no problems today as we worked out the best lines. There was even time for an evening swim in one of the mountain streams at the end of a very hot day.

A cooling dip at the end of the day.
