Khan Tengri

Khan Tengri from C2 on Pk Chapeyev

Unfortunately my trip to Muztag Ata has had to be canceled due to problems with the visas. Unofficially we've been told that the Chinese have shut down the whole of the Xinjiang province and won't be issuing any more visas until further notice. So at the last moment we're switching our attentions to the stunning Khan Tengri in neighboring Kyrgyzstan. This is one of the worlds most inspiring mountains rivaling the Matterhorn and Ama Dablam. It is also one of the Snow Leopard peaks as it just breaks the 7000m mark.
I visited this region a couple of years when my group made a successful ascent of Peak Chapeyev. However this time we have to traverse this summit to reach camp 3 on Khan Tengri giving the route a very committing feel. Please have a look at Alex's Flickr album for some amazing photos of our last trip. I'm leading this trip for Adventure Peaks.
