No snow in Scotland...

...or at least no new snow fell today unlike the rest of the UK. We climbed Dorsal Arete in Stob Coire Nan Lochain, Glencoe in amazing conditions. Despite a late start we broke trail into the corrie under blue skies with hardly a breath of wind. The route was in perfect condition and we watched the sunset from the summit ridge. Today I have been working for Adventure Peaks

There is as much snow at the road as there is on the tops. However the snow is still very unconsolodated due to the continued cold temperatures and away from the obvious paths was very hard going. The approach to Dorsal Arete varied from a hard icy crust to knee deep powder. There was some old avalanche debris below Broad Gully but it all seemed stable today and was decended by one team. There were some large eroded cornices above Twisting Gully but the exits to Broad Gully & NC Gully were clear. Twisting, SC and NC gullies all looked very thin.
