Under blazing sunshine I competed in my first fell race of the season today - the long classic, the
Duddon Valley Fell Race. Despite the bone dry conditions on the fell there were still plenty of boggy bits to be found but a distinct lack of fresh water especially in the second half of the race. After a slow and very hot start I got the nutrition and fluid intake right and started to pick up a few places after the big climb on Little Stand. In the end I finished in a shade under 5 hours in 4.56.21 with plenty still in the tank.
